- 6_7_tow_rigExplorerMine are mounted on the trailer where the awning meets. I ran the wire over to where the awning attaches to the side of the camper and ran the wiring inside it. I have the factory 12 volt plug right next to it and just plug in. Nothing permanent and easy.
- djousmaExplorerI wired into the 12V in the refrigerator access area, and also mounted the controller in there. When in use, the pigtail for the wire pokes out enough to hook up a 12' extension wire (available on ebay for $6). the pigtail for the remote also pokes out of there as well. when I am done, I unplug, and just tuck the wires back in, and away we go. That way, I didnt have to drill any holes.
I should also mention, that I mounted my LED's on the roller-tube, not on the trailer itself. - SCVJeffExplorerWe don't care..
- tjschaeferExplorerI didn't wire mine at all,,,,wait a minute, I don't have any lights on my awning. I find them tacky (Jed Clampit) and cut down the romance of my campfire.

I drilled a hole directly through my wall.....straight through.....no ship. I caulked that SOB like a boss. The inside happened to be the inside of my bathroom storage cabinets. I ran that along the side down to the converter. I popped in a 10 amp fuse and hi-fived myself in the mirror. Party on Wayne.
If I had to do it all again, I would put a switch between the converter and the controller before I hi-fived myself in the mirror.
Thumbs up!
The controller for mine is 12V DC, so I run power/ground from my battery. My solution is non permanent so I have to run it every time I set up camp. Inline fuse and alligator slips - MontanaCamperExplorerlike the others, went through the porch light. as far as bothering other campers....when I turn mine on......they come and see what I did... Also ran a LED through the front storage. Power came from the front light and added a switch.

I didn't - I care about other campers too much. However, if you must - a 12v or whatever kind of receptacle in the front passthrough (you might have a cargo light there - you'd just drop the line from that lighting fixture) will do the trick.
Why does it "bother" other campers? Mine light the front of my TT in whatever color I chose. Looks good and doesnt seem to bother anyone. No more so than any awning light would/could.
To answer the OP I mounted mine on the awning roller facing back toward the TT. I connect at the end and run the wire and transformer down the awning leg using velcro straps. I then just plug that into an extension chord that plugs into AC pushing all the extra cable under the TT. I disassemble for travel and storage. - SpeedogomerExplorerI had an outlet in my outside kitchen that works well for me. If I had to do it over without that outlet, I'd drill through the wall. There's an outlet inside my cabinets behind the microwave that the microwave itself plugs into.
As for bothering other campers... I call BS. It's no worse than the orange porch lights or scare lights. I can lower the brightness on my LED lights. Also using red (which human eyes are less sensitive to, eyes are most sensitive to green) makes the light much less noticeable. When my awning is out, the light bathes under the awning and isn't easily seen from a distance. When my awning is in, the awning hides most the strip, leaving a small area of light that's perfect for a night n LED light strip is any more annoying than a camping neighbor with a string of party lights on their awning.... which people have used at every campground since the 1970s without issue. - PenManExplorerThe end of my led strip ended up just outside my closet (how convenient or planned) so I drilled a single hole and ran the wire inside and straight down into a pass thru storage. I already had 12 volt power in the storage that I had run earlier. You'll love them. They can produce a dim glow up to a fairly bright light depending on what you need and how much you want to annoy your neighbors.
