For front-to-rear, I open the trailer door to 90 degrees and see which way it swings. For side-to-side, I keep a short carpenter's level in a kitchen drawer. Depending on how it reads, I use one or two 2x12 boards kept in the pick-up truck bed. If I'm already parked where I want to be, it means pulling forward four feet to put the board(s) in position the then backing onto the boards. If is the curb side that has to be raised, then the bottom step may be too high for DW's liking. In that case, I use a third 2x12 board and an assortment of other boards (2x12, 4x4) which can be placed underneath to serve as a first step.
