How important are my "must haves"?
We are upgrading from a popup. I have a list of things I want in a hybrid...and so far, it doesn't exist. Here's my list:
full size fridge/freezer
full length awning
outside cooking (hookup and mounting bar)
room inside to sleep more than 6 (even if it is floor space for a cot)
lots of storage
We'd like to keep the length under 23 ft.
This doesn't seem like too much to ask for!!! We are looking at the rockwood roo 21DK....the compromise there is not enough inside space and storage.
I LOVE the Jayco 20E. Love the layout, space, storage, etc. But, there's a small fridge, and small awning. I think those are deal breakers for me. Does anybody know if it is possible to put a bigger awning on this thing? It looks like it would cover the outside storage area if I did that, but I'm willing to sacrifice it for the awning.
Does anybody rely entirely on that little fridge (in the 20E) and find it not a problem?
Of course, going up in size gives me everything I want and more. But, it's usually a 2 1/2-3 ft jump in length. I'm not sure it would fit in our driveway space. Also, we mainly dry camp, and love being secluded in the woods....I'm thinking this bigger camper would change that. It seems like it would be much harder to maneuver into those heavily treed, narrow-road camping spots. But, maybe I'm wrong? I have no experience with this, so I'd love opinions. It just seems HUGE to me. We've considered the shamrock 21SS. My husband doesn't want a massive slideout. Again, it would limit where we could camp (too wide). If we could use the trailer without sliding out the slide, that would be ideal. This camper doesn't allow that. It closes off parts of the inside completely if you slide it in.
Although I do believe I've seen every camper made by humans at this point, maybe I've missed one? Is there something that has everything under 23' long? (preferably under 22').
