If someone is using your old Chieftain as a meth lab and he is next door to me, while you won't care, I will. So, that's what I meant what someone does with their personal property. I agree, once I sell something, it is not my concern of how it is used, unless it's illegal use affects me.

In my personal experience, you will lose 20% of whatever your paying as soon as your wheels turn out of the driveway. Did that once with a car and never again. I dont think Ill ever have enough to lose 20% a big chunk $. We search for good second hand and have found as recently a trade in on our F250, we saved a bundle. Did that with now our second TT. It just takes persistence to search for the right one.

Heck, why waste the money on a new TT if you are going to rent it out.

Buy a good used model and save half the cost.

The first TT we rented a was a two year old model the dealer usually rented for weekends, it was clean and nearly mint.

Your TT is basically a capital investment in your money making hobby, like a guitar to a musician.

Not a bad plan, our TT never rest long enough to rent it out. Plus we keep to many supplies in ours to load and unload between trips. That is why we bought it so we could step in and go.

Renting, personal use, giveaway as a present, purchase and drop it off on a street corner, none of those uses/plans have anything to do with negotiating price.

As I mentioned, not so much this post but it just seems more and more that people seem to lead people on, change the specifics when they don't seem to get the answers they want (not saying you did on this one).

People just appear to be more and more disingenuous for little to no reason. Im probably overly critical because it seems so prevalent these days on all kinds of forums, not just this one.

There is another option. You said you have campgrounds near you. Here in Indiana, there are a few boat rental companies that will haul the rented boat to your choice of lake. Then they come and pick it up and take it back to their shop.

If you are planning on doing the same... provide the transportation, set up and then bring it back home yourself, then the camper you have selected would definitely be a winner! Personally, if I were to rent my camper, this is the only way I'd do it. Tow it myself, set it up, and then take it down. The customer just shows up at the door with their blanket and pot and pan and hotdog stick.

Some great information in this post. One of my concerns in renting a TT is making sure that the renting vehicle is setup properly to tow the TT. I'll have to take all this into consideration before I settle on a make and model. Reason for the Bunks, outdoor kitchen and queen bed is because this is things I want personally since I will also be using the TT at times when it's not rented. Bunk beds means more of a chance for a family to rent and enjoy it. If I just buy something with a queen bed only I think I really limit my pool of renters. I need to stop by my local rental companies and check and see what they are renting and what they require. That should give me an idea of what to do. I have actually taken my Motorhome and set it up at a campground for renters a few times. I do like that but it just takes to much time. I still have a full time job.

No need to feel this way as it will be used for the wife and I and our kids also. We just rent our stuff out when not using it. Don't think it should change our total cost of a purchase at a dealer either. Also I would never walk into the dealer telling them I'm there to buy a trailer to rent out. Just no reason.

Thanks for the heads up on that floor plan being 26ft. Guess the number doesn't always reflect how many feet long it is.

The reason I don't say for rental is because anytime in the past I have ever mentioned it people seem to flip their lids and can't believe someone would allow someone else to rent their beloved RV then start getting all sarcastic in responses. Truth be told just as our Class A we rent it and we also use it for personal trips. My boys race High School mountain bikes so we travel the state going to watch races in the Motorhome when possible.
I've owned a few RVs over the years. A 03 Weekend Warrior, an 05 Skyline Rampage 5ver toyhauler that we pulled with a Kenworth semi truck and an 07 Damon Daybreak Class A and now my current 07 Georgetown Class A so I've owned a few. The only thing all these have in common are they were all private party purchases. Nondealers involved. So no I don't know the buying game and dealing with dealers on purchases. I personally try and never buy new. You just lose to much money when you take
It off the lot. This time I'm considering new since it's going to be under $20k for the purchase price. Not sure in this price point I'd be better off buying used since used won't have a warranty. Figured it would just be better to buy new for this purchase.

Also this purchase will also be used by my wife and I and our kids so I want a floor plan I will like.

Reason I don't want slides are because our main issue with our current Motorhome is we have had a few renters stuck with the slide not closing. Also had one that anytime they started the coach the bedroom slide would automatically start going out. It's not supposed to do this. Also the slides have ruined our carpet from water stains from leaking water. Just don't want the hassle for a rental.

I agree.... Why can't people just be honest. Everyone is so dang deceptive these days... I can name probably six recent posts right off the top of my head where people change the parameters of their question because they don't like the answer.

Add to this that the OP has 'purchased lots of RV's', so he knows the benefits of slides. Well, if you purchased lots of RV's, then you either (a) know how the pricing works, and how to negotiate already or (b) lost your butt on the multiple purchases.

Now, in this case, the TT usage shouldn't impact the negotiated price, so why not just say what the purpose is.. or better yet, don't bother.

I just don't get it....

You are correct! You should be able to get 30% off MSRP.. nothing less, especially if you are buying at end of year like now! Stick to your guns, shop different dealers, make sure the dealer that has the one you want KNOWS you are visiting other dealers. Be patient...might take a few days for them to meet your offer... but you should be able to get it for that.. Then hit them for some throw ins to clinch the deal before you say yes!: electric tongue jack for sure and WD hitch and brake controller if your TV doesn't have one built in. Those are several hundred each if you pay retail but remember the dealer pays only cost so to him, it is just a couple hundred to get the deal! Good luck and happy camping!
