Do you sanitize your S&B water system???
Fresh water tank....has fresh water in it....which is used to wash/shower/cook/drink
Well for one thing, it is vented to the atmosphere and some of the time there is a BIG air space in the tank. Neither of those situations exists in a modern pressurized system.
If you always fill from a trusted system that has residual chlorine in it at the tap you should be fine.....but I personally won't be taking the chance.
If you usually fill from a non-chlorinated source, like an untreated well or small muni system, then I think you are taking a BIG risk. Get a clear, clean gallon jug; fill it with water; let it sit at room temperature for about 10 days. The result might amaze you.
Your forgetting about the water tower. It is not pressurized.
Story was back in the day one of my local small towns had trouble a problem with pigeons living inside the water tower. Nothing like that happens anymore of course. - CavemanCharlieExplorer IIII do mine once a year in the spring.
I do use pink antifreeze to keep my pipes from freezing in the winter so in the spring I run some chlorine and baking soda through the whole system.
I don't often drink from the tank but, I have and other people have with no problems. - OzlanderExplorerNever, use it like it's meant to be used.

In 13 years of full time use I have never sanitized the fresh water tank.
And I do drink water from it when it is used.
X2
Only time I have ever sanitized is when I purchased a used unit or when I got a load of untreated well water.
Otherwise.......why?

Why doesn't RVng have to be complicated..........H
X3, I sanitize every time I fill up my tank with potable water, I never fill up from the dump station. We have drank and cook from ours for decades. - Sam_SpadeExplorer

We did stay at a park that had city water that may have had chlorine in it, does that count?
- Houston_RemodelExplorerWe use ours every month, drink tap water, and don't bother to sanitize since the first time when we took delivery.
I do fully drain it every now and then on the drive home if the level is low enough. - 2oldmanExplorer IIOnce in 12 years. I notice no difference.
- TucsonJimExplorer III guess I need to rethink my sanitization plan. A box of Imodium is really reasonably priced if you shop around. :E :W
- HuntindogExplorerI only do mine after fillingh up in Flint.:B
Seriously, if you are putting good water in all the time, then there is no need, unless you don't use it for a long time.
