How to price a used camper?

I'm thinking of selling my TC and I have no idea how one goes about establishing a fair price.

Any suggestions?

  • There is supposed to be at least one other new place to sell RV's, but a quick search did not discover it. A friend told a friend about it, you know how that goes.
  • Geewizard:

You might want to try SearchTempest as a search engine for items that are for sale. I use it to see what the pricing is on items from all over the United States. It is like an expanded version of Craigslist that allows you to search more than one area at a time. It also picks up ebay and amazon to help pin down pricing.

  • kbaum, no, we're considering a compact travel trailer instead of the TC. We have NO intention of quitting camping. There's too much to do and not enough time to do it.

TomG2, the bed is E-W. Texas isn't all that far away. And no pricing on here. It's against the rules AFAIK. Plus, I'm not into wasting time, mine or anyone else's.

Silver, that helps a lot. Thanks.
  • ....the Outfitters for sale I've tracked sell for about ~20% to 30% off the purchase price if they are in fairly good shape (ie. 5 to 7 year old Outfitters). 2~3 year old Outfitters appear to sell for a solid 10% to 15% off purchase price (in good very clean condition). The further the seller/buyer of the used Outfitter is from the factory, the more appealing it is to buy it used (given delivery times on new units, the time and anxiety it takes to track your build and anticipate the finished product), and the huge cost for an easterner, south-easterner, Canadian or Alaskan to get aaaaalllll the way to the factory and back, to pick up a new one!

    I hope that helps...

  • Too bad that you are not closer to Texas, as I might be interested in the Apex 8 you are selling. Is it the one with E-W bed or N-S? I see they offer both. You might as well put a price on it, since most of us will try to buy it dirt cheap and waste both our time.
  • Your not considering not camping are you? Idaho is awesome, as well as all of the surrounding states and Canada!
  • The last one I sold, I took a look at NADAguides.com and looked at their figures. Then I spent some time on google, listing the model and seeing what others were asking, if for sale. Finally came to somewhat of an average idea of what the market was asking. Not what they were actually selling for. If it is a current made unit, most RVs seem to be worth about half the original selling price at 5 years of age, if in good condition and well maintained. That certainly will vary from place to place. Here in the SE part of the country, a TC probably will bring $500 to $1,000 less than where you are now living in the mountain west. They are just not popular down this way, it seems.
