How to test camper is charging batteries on shore power

Probably answered a million times but had 185 RB 2012 Jayco out in the spring and everything OK. Would use small genset to charge when back in from fishing in afternoon. Brought home, went to get something out of the camper and the batteries were both dead. The camper was plugged in and I found no fuses blown. The fuse out by the battery was also not blown. I am currently charging with a charger like for the car or truck in a temporary charge. Now how do I test the inverter/converter, (never could remember what it is) Any and all help will be appreciated. Thankyou in advance. Yes I do have a VOM .
  • You have a VOM, so check the battery voltage when plugged in and again unplugged.
You should see 13.6-14V on charge and 12.6V for a fully charged battery that has been off charge for an hour or so.
If there is no difference or battery is dead, then it's time to trace back to and thru the CONVERTER.
Some have internal fuses that you may need to get at.

(BTW, an INVERTER is powered by 12V DC and "inverts" the DC to AC, then passes thru a transformer to produce 110V)
