- coolmom42Explorer IIIncreased humidity will make ANY type of refrigeration take longer to cool down. The water vapor in the air has a high heat capacity and it has to be cooled, too.
However, in humid Tennessee, where the dewpoint is often about 70 degrees, our fridge will cool from 90 degrees down to 36 degrees in about 12 hours, with it empty, on either electric or propane, AND with keeping the door closed! Opening the door is the worst thing you can do. - tuna_fisherExplorerThe reason I'm asking. It's over 80% here in the desert, very unusal, we've been getting pounded by thunderstorms.I just cleaned the burner adj. all on the refer. Turned it on to gas and it really seems like it's taking a longer time to cool off.
- MCIbusExplorerPropane refrigerators work off part of the coil being hot a large part of the coil cooling off. IMO the higher the humidity (depending on the outside temperature) the longer the coil would take to cool off.
I have never had a propane refrigerator, but it is basic science
