I do have solar panels that I carry loose since having it on the roof and parking in the shade would never made sense to me.
Have long cable and move it thru the day for max exposure.
Having heavy pickup, I put my camper on the bed leaving 1 foot space on front of the bed for all the extra stuff that you can't put into basement storage.
Also front platform is good for extra stuff like quiet Honda generator or fuel cans.
