Is a dually too wide for a 7 ft camper?

I dont think you need to go there but I knew a guy with a dually that put single 19.5 wheels on the rear of his truck(and the front) , he left the bed on and it looked kind of stupid , but if your replacing the bed....

The Escape Pod pictures at Northstars web site show happijac`s . The two northstars I`ve had have had happijacs on them.
I`ve put two 7' wide popups on duallys before one was a northstar , both had happijacs , its not the best situation but it can be done . You have to use happijac dually swing outs with 2" extentions that happijac sells , that will get you wide enough , but I dont think northstar would advise it , its putting more stress on the mounts to the camper
I know the weight can add up fast but you are starting with a very light camper to begin with , dry -no options is 1990 lbs , only holds 20 gal of fresh and 15 of grey with a cassete toilet right.
If you use a dually wouldnt the flat bed be 8' wide , you would have flat bed deck sticking out on both sides of the camper
I think you would be best off with a 350 or 3500 SRW truck, long bed and a alum 7' wide flat bed , as others have said your going to save weight if you buy a truck with a bed on it and remove and replace with a alum bed

My camper is 8 feet wide. With swing out brakets I only have 100 inches between the jacks. You'd have to have brakets nearly 8 inches wide. That would have to be custom built for sure.

The utility body I have on my flat bed dually is about 7 feet wide. The flat bed is 8 feet wide. I have a completely different kind of jacks for my utility body, but the front pair of jacks do clear the 8 foot wide bed just fine.

Standard camper jacks on swing outs can be widened to clear your flat bed. Any local welding shop should be able to widen the brackets for you.

I put a deposit down on the 2300 lb dry weight truck camper to lock in a build date but am still talking with the manufacturer about little options.

I am now searching for the 1 ton truck and found one that at first blush looked good. (2007 GMC 3500, single rear axle, LBZ Duramax diesel/Allison 4x4, crew cab, long bed, one owner 70,000 miles). Camper is 7 ft wide and designed for a flatbed which I think will not fit in a dually. Just wanting to confirm that a dually does not work for this flatbed camper.

I think you would be fine with a SRW with a 9X7 camper unless it is really heavy. I would go with a newer 1 tone SRW truck.

My dually is 96" wide and I had to modify my swingouts to get enough room to unload and this is with a 98" wide camper, now it is true that my jacks are set in on my camper but still I don't think it would be wise to have swingouts out that extended that far out from the camper.

When I was using my Lance TC it had swingaway jacks on the front so that you could use it on a dually. With both of them in the outward position it allowed the dually fenders to go by without hitting. You might want to check into something like that. If it needed to be wider you would just use a wider plate. When traveling it folded back next to the TC. Might want to take some measurements to be sure that it will fit. JMO
