Is Creekside TT comparable to Arctic Fox TT?

I came across a 2014 Creekside and a 2012 Arctic Fox ( left over stock) with very similar floor plan. I was told both companies are owned by the same owner. Creeksiide is produced at a formerly Fleetwood plant took over by Northwood a few years back. So if I buy a Creekside, do I get a re-badged Fleetwood or a water- down Arctic Fox?

Both TT have more or less same level of equipment. As far as I can see, the AF has themopane window while the other has not.( A $1,200 option). The Creekside has power jack and the other has manual. The AF is 6" wider and 700# heavier. Both are aluminum framed walls on 4 sides. The roof of the AF is constructed with radiused wood truss. The roof construction of the Creekside is not identified in the rather brief brochure and dealers I visited gave conflicted answer. The front end of the AF is one piece molded cap. The Creekside's front end is laminated Filon with checkered plate at the bottom half.

Fit & finish wise, they are close but AF seem to have an edge. I discovered defects on both units. However, the defects on the AF are from the wear & tear of the long display period. The defects on the Creekside are workmanship related.

The asking prices are within a couple of hundred dollars.

If you are in my shoes, which one would you pick?

  • I moved up from a loaded Sunnybrook 26CKS to my Wind River 250RDSW. I like the WR but do feel the extra 600 in UVW and the 1 foot higher and 2 feet longer in the wind and on grades. I don't see anything on the market close to the WR 250RDSW so I will deal with it for now. OutdoorsRV builds nice TT's but they are not perfect.
  • Our AF is 8.5 feet wide, and I consider that a real plus. Since the model we have does not have a slide-out, the extra 6 inches in width actually makes it seem considerably more spacious. (Can't explain it; it just does.) The only negative with the extra width is probably a slight reduction in mileage due to the larger frontal area. Northwood discontinued the 22H floor plan in the AF line, so we'll be hanging on to ours as long as possible. It's just right for us and the quality is outstanding.
  • Not pushing one or the other but for some clarification, go to Outdoors RV Manufacturing web-site. Creekside specifications and features have changed quite a bit since last August's production began for the 2014 model year. Same insulation values as Arctic Fox and a 5" crowned roof are among some of the up-graded construction design changes.
  • Creek Side is their entry level TT. Same as the Nash for Northwood. To get a comparable TT at Outdoors RV you would need to jump to the Timber Ridge, Wind River or Blackstone. I would take the discounted AF.
  • Well.... we are on our second Fox, so.. guess

But honestly, which one suits your needs more? The Creekside is certainly less expensive, the Fox is better insulated.
The Creekside roof structure is probably the older flat roof that Northwoods used to use on the Fox
Both are on the same frame, and built by basically the same folk. The core of the workforce at Outdoors came from Northwoods. But former Fleetwood people work at both Nortwoods and Outdoors.
  • Hi,

I have neither, but I have toured both factories (as well as several others). IMO, the Artic Fox line of products is better built. This not to say the Outdoor RV line isn't well built, it just isn't at the same level....which would be expected just by looking at the price.

I suggest you choose based on your anticipated usage...i.e.; cooler weather, go with Artic Fox.

  • The AF's thermopane, double windows would be a definite plus for us. A chunk of the extra 700# sticker weight could be in those thermopanes.

But the 8.5 ft width would be a minus (thinking of a busy, narrow bridge across the Ohio river that scared me with our old 7.5' wide trailer).

We've been happy with the construction of our 2014 Timber Ridge by Outdoors RV but Artic Fox has an excellent rep and high resale value.

    Tough choice ...
  • I have had my eye Artic Fox TTs for a couple of years now and also got interested in the Creekside TTs by Outdoors RV Manufacturing. Between the two, I thing Artic Fox has the edge. Unforturnately for me, Artic Fox has discontinued the floor plan that I want, while Creekside currently has that floor pan in it's 22RB model TT. In our travel plans for this year, we will be visiting Outdoors RV to investigate their TTs.
