Is J2807 worthless?

J2807 came out in 2008, what took Ram 7 years before they adopted it across all series trucks? Only bring up Ram because that's what you have.
Why aren't you bringing up GM? They adopted J2807 for the 2015 1500 and ended up lowering the ratings. Haven't heard any of that discussed. Perhaps the OP of the thread Mr. Dog could explain that since he drives a GM.
