Is my toilet defective?

Yea I had a thedford w/ a hand lever and didnt know about the smaller lever inside the biger one for a year. For a while I added more water with a pot , feel kind of silly now

He needs a diesel.

I have two different units, a Thetford AquaMagic 5, foot flush and a Dometic Sealand Porcelin.

The Thetford requires only a tiny pressure on the foot pedal to add water to the bowl without opening the flush mechanism.

The Dometic requires as previously stated, lifting the pedal with your foot to fill the bowl (which is actually kinda helpful if you need to add water while seated).

Thats how ours is-2 handle embedded in each other, pulling the large handel opens both the water valve and dump valve, but you can just pull the smaller handle to add water, though you cant open just the dump valve without water. Our previous rv had single handle-you pulled half way to add water-all the way to dump (while water flowing). old MH had dual foot pedals worked like out current one main pedal opened both water and dump but you could push the small one just for water.

ON my SeaLand I have to lift the foot pedal to add water.

Thats what I am used to....just never tried the opposite direction
