Nice looking combo. The problem was that turnbuckles did not have enough angle to pull the camper forward and that is what I see on your set even less than on mine
You can pick up a good bit of angle by swapping the front inserts from side to side so the ears go forward instead of back. This will move the bottom of the tie down forward about 6" and should give you plenty of angle.
Alternative would be to go back to the factory tie down point. Look along the edge underneath, about 10-14" back from the front and you should find a hole for a 3/8" enclosed eye bolt. The eye bolt should screw into a metal bracket embedded in the unit, not the wood.
I'm real curious how the truck handles the unit. I've contemplated moving up to a 1010, but always think the weight is going to be on the heavy side. Have you weighed it by chance? My truck is almost identical to yours, just replace the "C" with a "6.4 Hemi" tag.
I'll have to look for that hole for the factory tie down point. I was sure the front tie downs aren't the factory location but haven't had time to look into it. Thanks for the pointer.
I haven't had a chance to get it weighed yet but its on the list. Thought the truck handled the camper well on the short drive from where I picked it up to my temporary storage location. It was pretty windy and you could feel the truck rock a little but nothing scary.
Need to get a trip or 2 under my belt and see about what suspension upgrades are gonna be needed.
I'm also shopping for a 2 foot hitch extension yet cause my use case is pulling a trailer on most outings, either a boat trailer or a flat bed for my rock crawler or my side-by-side. I know tork lift makes the best ones out there but this truck already has a class 5 (2 1/2'') reciever hitch so pretty sure I'm gonna go with something like this curt extension since I need to drop it down to a 2" reciever anyways.
