It Begins...New to me 2001 Lance 1010

Been Lurking here for a long time. Looking this fall for a decent used TC and ended up finding one close to home. Got a new to me 2001 Lance 1010. Pretty tickled overall. So far real nice unit for what I thought was a great price.

I already have the Torklift frame mounted tie downs but need to update the tie-downs that came with the unit. The Camper came with some turnbuckles too short for the frame mounted tie downs without using chains to make them long enough. I'm looking to go ahead and get a set of TorkLift Fastguns. Best price I've come across so far is about $625 shipped from adventurerv.net. OR I've seen a set of 4 plus the torklift locks for $673 shipped from etrailer. What are other folks paying for their fastguns?

The new (to me) unit:

  • Nice looking combo.

The problem was that turnbuckles did not have enough angle to pull the camper forward and that is what I see on your set even less than on mine

You can pick up a good bit of angle by swapping the front inserts from side to side so the ears go forward instead of back. This will move the bottom of the tie down forward about 6" and should give you plenty of angle.

Alternative would be to go back to the factory tie down point. Look along the edge underneath, about 10-14" back from the front and you should find a hole for a 3/8" enclosed eye bolt. The eye bolt should screw into a metal bracket embedded in the unit, not the wood.

I'm real curious how the truck handles the unit. I've contemplated moving up to a 1010, but always think the weight is going to be on the heavy side. Have you weighed it by chance? My truck is almost identical to yours, just replace the "C" with a "6.4 Hemi" tag.
  • Nice looking ride you got there. Congratulations enjoy it while you can.
  • Congratulations on your new camper. I have longer Lance and had some problems with it sliding back. Not bad, but after 2000 miles it move 1/2".

For FastGuns shopping, just use Google if you want new ones.
I was searching for used ones and 6 months of search found them 3000 miles away. But I got good deal.
  • be leary of adventure they do not warranty anything and often send a wrong amount out. i ordered a set of jacks as the pic dwscribed they sent one.
