- bigfootfordNomad IIWow, great follow up.
Back in the 70's Firestone bias ply's had problems of sidewall de-lamination .. .... I had them on our camper van. We were on vacation, stopped at a gas station, saw about a 2in dia. bubble on the side wall of one of the tires.
Short of it, Firestone denied any wrong doing, I replaced the tires with Goodyear... About 3 years later Firestone owned up... We had sold the van, and the paper work was gone....

Buzz,
I didn't read any of the other repsonses but
Why didn't you file a claim on your auto insurance? You have three years to do this. This claim would go under comprehensive coverage and you would not see a raise in your rates (at least in California). I carry a $100 deductible and had a tire blow out and damage my rear fender a few years back. My auto insurance paid for all the damage to the truck. The only thing it didn't cover was the tire. Let your insurance company go after the tire manufacture and or you go after them to at least pay your deductible.

nolan - BigBlockFordExplorerGreat update Buzz; thank you & best of luck! Subscribed as my next set of tires will be purchased this fall... hopefully Toyo will do the right thing!
BBF - davidafExplorerGo get um. Denied for running in a flat condition... With that response to your situation they shouldn't be let off the hook.

- Buzzcut1Nomad IIJust an update
In Jan 2013 I filed a claim with Toyo for the damages to my truck. Les Schwab was helpful in filing it. In May Toyo denied the claim saying the tire was damaged by being driven in a run flat condition.. like I could stop on a dime and would not pay to have my truck repaired.
Today I received a recall notice from Toyo per NHTSA that my Opencountry HT in the 285/75R16 size have been recalled for a Manufacturing Defect in the belt that causes the tread to separate and the tire to fail catastrophically.

I'm so stoooo-pid... plus blind as a bat. Sorry!
Went to a lot of trouble buying those higher rated Toyos, didn't think too much of them with their soft sidewalls, got 19.5's and never looked back( rated at close to 5000# ea :) )
oops..... the Toyos I had ,were 16.5" on stock Dodge rims and were not the same as yours so my comments do not apply . - Buzzcut1Nomad IIa few more photos
