Here is my take, which BTW I know some of you could care less but here goes.
Maybe the declined numbers of the other brands have more to do with the increase in the Ram sales and not the cold weather? :h
Not that there is anything wrong with the GM/Chevy twins and a what .7% drop in Ford sales does not mean anything.
Give ram and Fiat/Chrysler their dues. Our quality is up, our trucks rock, we invested over 1 billion in Sterling Heights Assembly for the new 200. Yep they have invested in the Mexico plants also but that is what it is, GM and Ford of plants their also.
The guys that said Fiat would be the end of Chrysler must not like the taste of crow maybe? When the gloom and doom crowd at the plant start their******I remind them that with out Fiat their would not be a Chrysler right now! If Fiat was only in it for Jeep and Ram they sure as heck would not have invested in the other lines.

I personally don't get all the gas pain over Fiat owning Chrysler to begin with. Lee Iacoca explored the possibility of a merger or acquisition of Chrysler by Honda when Chrysler was facing insolvency in the late 70's. Why did he do this? Because the Feds told him to explore that possibility as an alternative to seeking the Federal loan guarantees that Chrysler ultimately received.
Hopefully, Chrysler will continue on the successful path they are on. More than a few workers in this country (Chrysler employees and supplier employees) would be thrilled................
I think a lot of that stems from what many hung their hats on in the domestic vs foreign make wars of the past. That being, sure Honda assembles their vehicles here but where do the profits go? They worked it so hard that they even convinced themselves it was true. But now one of the big three is technically a foreign company the attitudes need to shift again. It will find its level soon enough. - wilber1ExplorerChrysler may well turn out to be the dominant part of this merg. The new stock is to be listed on the NYSE. These two companies really do need each other if they are to do well as a global auto maker. Individually, they are just too small to compete with the heavyweights.

To each his own tow vehicle. - Bionic_ManExplorerOverall Chrysler sales were up 8% in January. GM was down 12%, Ford was down 7%.
Personally, I would like to see all of the manufactures sales increase. Our economy needs a boost.

And itguy, on behalf of everyone that has a neutral or favorable opinion of Chrysler, I would like to apologize for whatever catastrophic wrong you feel Chrysler has done to you. It is obvious that you have an agenda here as you are the most negative poster on any Chrysler related thread. - itguy08Explorer

Cause they can easily rebadge the 200 as a Fiat or retool those plants to make Fiats....
How were the car sales at Chrysler/Dodge? Cause they were negative for most of last year, IIRC. Ram and Jeep were what was keeping them afloat. - otrfunExplorer IIYup, Ram's on a roll, no doubt about it. I'm impressed. The question is, for how much longer.
If I were to guess, the Ram products coming out today were the direct result of Ram CEO Fred Diaz's vision and leadership.
Nissan lured Fred Diaz away from Ram in April 2013.
Interestingly, about 6 months after Diaz gets on-board with Nissan, Nissan announces they will be offering a 5.0 Cummins diesel in the soon-to-be-revamped 2015-2016 1/2 ton Nissan Titan.
Anybody see a possible connection here?
I'm pumped about this new Nissan 1/2 ton diesel and what it can potentially bring to the marketplace--especially under Fred Diaz's watch. He has made it clear they're not going to compete in the HD segment. But, on the otherhand, he said there's nothing to stop us from "tweaking" a 1/2 ton truck to do more. It's already a given the 5.0 Cummins diesel has the raw numbers to tow 12,000-13,000 lbs. not to mention the powerful marketing power of the Cummins name. If Nissan can "tweak" the driveline and chassis for 2000 lbs. payload, 12k-13k towing, PLUS REALWORLD, OBTAINABLE, LOW-MID 20's MPG highway, they will singlehandedly create a new market all to itself. No other truck would come close to filling this huge void in the market.
For Ram's sake, I sure hope they can keep the momentum going after the loss of Fred Diaz. Sometimes one person can really make all the difference. Time will tell, for Ram . . . and Nissan. - Perrysburg_DodgExplorerHere is my take, which BTW I know some of you could care less but here goes.

Don - DadoffourgirlsExplorerThe following is from the GM Sales Release:
“We are building long-term value for our customers and it starts with award-winning new
products,” said Kurt McNeil, U.S. vice president of Sales Operations. “We have major
launches underway and we are going to accelerate brand-building and other growth
initiatives, which include executing our winning strategy to sell more pickup trucks with
larger cabs, more features and advanced technology.”
Half of GM’s light-duty pickup sales in the fourth quarter of 2013 were premium-contented
models that transacted at prices of $40,000 or more. That compares with about one-third
of sales in the 2013 calendar year and 20 percent in 2012. The mix continued to improve
in January.
Key enablers, depending on the model, include superior fuel economy, quieter cabins,
higher towing and payload ratings, and better resale value. For example, the 2014
Chevrolet Silverado 1500 earned a “Best Resale Value” award from Kelley Blue Book as
one of the Top 10 models in the industry.
Also, there are many that are waiting for the 2015 HDs that started selling in January. So straight numbers may not be good to make all decisions on.
