Lance 1010 on 3500 SRW?

I'm looking at a Lance 1010 tomorrow as an upgrade from my Lance 815. Just would like a shower that is easier to use along with the larger tanks.

My truck has a rear GAWR of 7,000 and an actual of 3150 leaving a capacity of 3850.

Research shows a the 1010 weight wet is some where around 3500-3600 pounds depending on options. This means I can make it right about at the numbers.

I'm nervous about being that close to the edge, but then when I'm reading old post from folks, I see so many 1010s being carried on 250s. Am I missing something or being paranoid?
  • The 1010 will be fine on a SRW truck. It should be the same as my 915 but 7 inches longer and only 300 lbs heavier. 2002 brochure says 2542 wet weight.
  • That sounds like a good plan.

201 weeks = ~4 years, for anyone not pregnant or recently having a baby...
  • I've decided it is too much weight for my comfort level and camping style. Plus the one I looked at had wing rot which I was expecting. But also above the window from Clarence light and a very bad soft spot in the floor by the water tank. As I told the seller, I'm looking to go camping, not work on a project.

We kind of decided we would stick with the 815 until I retire in 201 weeks. At that time we will probably upgrade to a DRW and a TC with dry bath.

Thanks for all of the advice.
  • He's using his trucks 7000 rawr axle load numbers. 3150 plus 3850 = 7000 lbs.

He may or may not need any rear suspension help....all depending on the truck campers actual weight.
  • What is the GVWR of your 2015 RAM?

    The rear axle capacity?

What is the truck empty weight?

Looks like only tire ratings in your post??
  • Even if wet weight is accurate that is still not camping weight . There should be several here that have that same model and give actual weights .
  • jim, according to his signature, it's a 2008 1055 which has a brochure weight of 3150. Good comparison though, thanks for reminding me.

socal, the brochure weight of the 1010 is 2542. The 3500-3600 is best guess from researching what folks actually weight. At 1,000 over brochure weight, seems about right from what folks say to add to the brochure weight.
  • If the advertised 'wet weight' is 3500-3600 lbs, it'll be well over 4000 lbs in actual use.
  • I think that's the same model that Buzzcut1 had and blew out on before switching to 19.5s. I think you'll be over the edge.
