Hello chalet05. I just returned yesterday from a week in Northern Vermont. We went on some back roads that were pretty rough but had no trouble. Unless you really go off the beaten path you will not have any trouble. Enjoy your trip and don't forget to visit Ben&Jerrys icecream and Cabot Cheese. They are very close to each other.
The leaves had not changed much and the locals up there said because of the wet this year there may not be too much color, but go anyway it's a nice trip.
