Leaking Trans coolers line and oil cooler line.HELP!

I got a 2007 GMC 2500HD Classic style with the 6.0 gas, with only 77,000 miles. My transmission cooler lines, and my oil cooler lines are leaking in various spots around the rubber parts, not the metal line parts.
I usually do minor repairs myself, but doubting whether I should tackle this myself or not. Anyone done this before?
Also, Can someone direct me where at ONLINE I can order these lines?
Also, I think I heard they come in pairs when you buy them, and is it a all "one piece", or is the metal and rubber sections all split up?

Thanks in advance.

  • Take them off, take them to a hydraulic shop and get them rebuilt. They will never leak again. That's what I did on my previous 07 Ram. Cheaper than buying new as well.
  • Recall is not the right word I was looking for, but service bulletin is more likely. In any case it was fixed on G M's dime. As far as that nut I would look in North Idaho.

Check for recall as my Duramax had same issue and was recalled.

As far as I know there was never a recall on this issue. (If or anybody else knows of one please post the number)

Mine came with K-Mart tranny and oil cooler lines also and were replaced on extended warrantee not on a recall.

One would think GM could build a set of decent lines since they had this issue since the early 90's that I know of. :R

If they are still struggling with this issue on current models, they could always reverse engineer a 2002 Explorer. My lines are still dry 15 years later. Now if Lincoln could just take a cue from caddy and put a proper transmission in a luxury performance sedan....
  • Just to be safe, check all your brake lines while you are under the truck. GM has this problem also.
  • Check to see if there's a special tool needed to get the connections on the lines loose. I seem to remember a tool needed when helping a friend with his lines on a slightly older truck.

Are you sure it was a recall and not just a service bulletin. A recall is for safety and is initiated by nhtsa and is done on all models within a serial number range for free -in or out of warranty. A service bulletin is a known issue with the fix but isn't free for off warranty trucks.

  • Just search for your model at various websites. Pay attention to codes or vin numbers etc. These are examples I pulled up but may not be exactly the part number you want to order. Yes, they are one piece assemblies that may go from pipe to hose to pipe. They may need a special release tool to remove the end fitttings from the radiator and trans.
