I'm contemplating doing the same thing. There's 3" of height difference between the front and rear on Ram 2500-3500. I'm think of doing a 1.5" leveling kit. Won't level the truck but will look nicer IMO. I tow a lighter 5er with a pin @1800lbs. I also have Timbrens on. The Timbrens sit 1" above the axle so when hitched the rear of the truck only drops a little more than 1". With a 1.5" leveling kit the rear will still be 1.5" higher. Once loaded with the 5er the truck which drops 1"+ in the rear will be real close to level.
I was also thinking of going with a 2-2.5" leveling kit, but then the rear would be lower than the front when towing. I would have to get airbags to get the rear back up to level. Not worth throwing that much money into the truck just to have another 1/2-1" difference for level.
To the OP if you level the truck you'll need airbags to keep it level when hitched.
