I'm contemplating doing the same thing. There's 3" of height difference between the front and rear on Ram 2500-3500. I'm think of doing a 1.5" leveling kit. Won't level the truck but will look nicer IMO. I tow a lighter 5er with a pin @1800lbs. I also have Timbrens on. The Timbrens sit 1" above the axle so when hitched the rear of the truck only drops a little more than 1". With a 1.5" leveling kit the rear will still be 1.5" higher. Once loaded with the 5er the truck which drops 1"+ in the rear will be real close to level.
I was also thinking of going with a 2-2.5" leveling kit, but then the rear would be lower than the front when towing. I would have to get airbags to get the rear back up to level. Not worth throwing that much money into the truck just to have another 1/2-1" difference for level.
To the OP if you level the truck you'll need airbags to keep it level when hitched.
If you have a 4X4 look at a similar truck in 2wd. I will bet the spacer blocks at the rear axle are shorter. Might be the easiest fix?
I'll look into that. I just put some 32" tires on and now the rear is 1" higher. I knew that going in. I may just take the spacer out of my Timbrens and let the rear drop another 1". It settles 2" with the 5th hitched up so hopefully that will get me back to the original tow stance.
