LLY and LBZ
Been reading a lot of posts, still trying to figure out the difference's between the two engines. I have an 04 2500 D/M LT with 99,600 miles. Bought the truck when it had only 73,000 miles on it.

The 06 late version LLY was basically a detuned LBZ with none of the overheating problems. The detuned LBZ engine in a 05-body truck will still overheat. It's not the engine that’s the issue, it's the smaller radiator in the 04/05 trucks.
The LLY in an 05 truck is not a detuned LBZ. Second gen LLY's ONLY came in 06 trucks.
