I agree, the receiver may be cracked. Last week I pointed out the problem on a friends truck and it could have failed at any time.

Its a 2000 Silverado.

I have the Husky WDH and when hooked up the whole rig is level. I use the 6th link.

I sort of assumed the springs were giving up the ghost when he said "Then it started to sag in the rear." And yes, I've heard the joke about assuming ;)

The instructions on my Husky hitch says "There should be at least 5 links between the lift bracket and spring bar." I've interpreted this to mean it shouldn't be hooked above the 6th link, leaving 5 between. It also says "The spring bars should be nearly horizontal when correct height is achieved."

Yes. Just as discussed in your other post. It's time for a new truck or new springs.

The amount of sag or drop of the rear of the tow vehicle has no impact on how to adjust a weight distributing hitch. Adjust such that the weight on the front axle (or estimated by fender height) is the same with WDH as no trailer connected. There rear axle is what it is.
