We camped in a Jayco x18d for 7 years, it's a 3 bunk hybrid, I believe it weighed about 3600 dry weight. You can sleep a lot in there, my biggest complaint was nowhere to sit inside except the dinette, but for only 4 people probably not a big deal. I really wanted the 3 bunk Rockwood with the slide out dinette, that thing is huge on the inside, but weighed about 800lbs more. At least those were the 2011 model years.
As far as maintenance the only issue I had when I sold it was the front bunk door had begun to rot due to a leaking seal. Didn't affect the rest of the trailer, but someday that door will need to be replaced. The good news is by shopping around and finding a large Jayco dealer, that door can be replaced for around $500 when the time comes.
The seals, especially on the front where it is slanted, are notoriously problematic. But that's just part of the deal with the hybrid. Its all a trade off.
Still, when you're only in the 5k-6k tow capacity, you can get a lot of usable space for not a lot of weight.
Do you know what specific model or length Rockwood that was? Is it one of the Roo? I've read some troubling accounts of the Roo line, but then, I've read some years of Coyote had tent issues, wish I knew which years since there's an 07 I'm considering.
I'd love the 3 bunk flips, and a slideout. I know Coyote makes one like that but cant find any older ones for sale. Didn't see an Jayco like that though.
I can do without the 3 bunks, but thought they'd be convenient because theres plenty of room for the kids to go to sleep early, or bring a friend with the two rearward beds and the adults can stay up longer and not need the sofa flipped down.
I also think the slideout would be nice, and willing to go 38-3900 lb to get it cause I've seen how roomy it makes the inside feel. I'd prob get a small camper recliner for the open space it creates.
I def want a sofa. I'v also thought, whatever I get I may modify or remove the booth cause I find 2 sofas way more useful than a booth. I can pop a table up to sit and eat at the sofa, but the booth is no fun place to sit otherwise.
As for the tow vehicle, again, worst worst case, is it blows the engine or tranny. Then I'll look for another vehicle. Otherwise, this is what I'm towing with. Another choice we have is to take both the TB to tow, and drive the Sienna with the kids separately to take some of the human and payload weight up. All those things are options, but buying another tow vehicle at this time is not.
