I wont get to work with the electric issue till Sat. In the meantime I was trying to read up about these batteries, how they charge, what kind is good etc. I have no idea how old the battery is. I'd suspect several years old at minimum.
I'm reading about 24 27 29 31 something batteries and different letters like G and DC and AGM etc. AHHH!! I have no idea what all this means.
Our camper will be parked beside my rental house, where at this stage has no place for me to get power as I didn't discuss using power with my tenants. (I CAN if thats a VERY good idea)
I called interstate and they told me their deep cycle batteries are SRM 24,27, or 29 and run $127, 121, and 141 respectively. I read on these forums that anything with a CCA is not really a deep cycle but their battery on their website says it has a CCA value of 550 600 and 675 respectively.
At this point I think we will be CG with full hookup people, and I have a small 1000w honda generator if I needed a little power.
When I check out the battery if its years old, I'll prob go get a new one. Don't prefer to spend a fortune, but don't want to buy junk either.
The camper will be stored for weeks to months at a time at our rental side yard with no connections at all. What steps do I need to take? Should I cut some wire and mount some kind of switch on the tongue to completely shutoff the battery so it wont sit there and die?
Also, does the TV being plugged to the camper actually charge the tongue battery at all, or is it a separate system and only shore power charges the tongue battery?
I know NOTHING about batteries like this because my dad in his camping years never used a tongue battery. I kinda feel like I'm seeing why, cause it seems like a hassle to deal with and maintain.
Thanks all!
