marker lights

Question

all of the marker lights on my camper have a cracked lens, the light fixture fits in from the back with a rubber 1/4 turn grommet and the housing is sealed. when i picked up replacements fixtures from the RV store it had a foam gasket and looked like a direct replacement of the factory lights. the foam gasket fits between the camper sidewall and the back of the light frame and there is a hole in it feed the wire/lightbulb fixture thru.

do i need to add any sealant around the outside of the frame of the light after i replace it or is the rubber gasket good enough to keep water out?

The clearance light in post is mounted with screws. The lamp is a twist out.I would not use sealant thats sets up. One that stays pliable would be my preferred choice.

I replaced one of mine with and LED. The lights are similar to yours. I did put a small bead around the base of the fixture. That's what Lance had done on the OEM

I sealed all of mine with dicor. Not risking leaks, and if I need to open it back up it will only take seconds with a x-acto knife to make the needed cut.

thanks guys i do have some dicor and proseal so for added protection i could add a bead around the frame. the current ones don't have anything except the gasket, once i get them off an inspect will see if any of them have leaked. the gasket is thicker than it looks in the picture..
