Max Tow F150s
How can I identify a Max Tow F150 by decoding the VIN? I'll be replacing my 2012 F150 with a newer one in the next 6 months or so. I'd like the heavier duty package when I do. But how does Ford identify it? Thanks.

The LT tires are standard on the 2018s HDPP, P rated tires come on all the others, that is a big clue.
My 2014 3.5 Ecoboost CC SB with Max Tow package but no HDPP, came with LT tires.- Serious question: Why does almost every "1/2 ton question" thread have to turn into "just get a 3/4 ton" bullying session? Not everyone needs or wants one. But yet week after week threads get ruined because of the repeated bashing from a 3/4 owner/fan. OP is asking about a specific truck. Just like if it was a specific style of camper. Unless the OP is attempting something that is going to obviously put him/her in danger, why the constant attempt to "upsell" to what you think they should have?

250s are everywhere. A real HD truck that will perform better and last longer when towing...
And since this is a tow vehicle forum.... Most everyone isn't here to discuss how well it does as a grocery getter.

I rented the F250 to tow my trailer, and I would not be happy with that truck...I don't care for trucks.
You would be happier with a larger truck, but you probably like trucks anyways...I like driving cars.
The closer a truck is to a car, the less of a compromise it is driving it, but I have a trailer to tow. The 3/4 on up is just too big of a compromise when not towing. The F150 EB is quicker, handles better, brake better, etc, than those fat clumsy bulldogs 2/3 ton on trucks...I'd rather drive a prius than those things.
The F150 with the 3.5 EB, 10 speed, is the closest to a car you can get and tow a heavy trailer.
The difference between the F150 and a heavier truck is driving the 1/2 ton a few times when not towing, to zero times with a heavier, slower, clumsy, thirstier, harder to park, slower, longer braking, etc, truck.
You don't have the slightest clue as to the value of that 3.5 EB, ten speed to some drivers. Everyone does not want a big heavy truck.
