- pezvelaExplorerMy last two sets of Michelins have been LTX/MS"2" tires in the 265/75/16 size. In that size, they had switched to the MS "2" designation sometime in 2010 or earlier. No mention of the MS2, only the MS designation.
But I did have a massive blowout on one of the MS2s I bought in 2010 this summer. It is apparently not part of the recall. - BleugoatExplorerHere is the recall info on the Michelin LTX tires recalled in the US:

Only one size is recalled and they were manufactured at the Bridgewater, Nova Scotia plant.

NHSTA Notification - jefe_4x4ExplorerDoh! The complaint was tread separation or tred-sep. in the biz.I thought this was the winter tire I was looking at for Jeanie's 2011 Grand Chero. It's a 265/60R18. Her original Michelin tires have 64K miles and are done for winter treading and are useless for anything but dry pavement.
Back to the drawing board.

EDIT: The size above is an odd-ball size that only fits a few vehicles. After a lot of searching I found a Bridgestone tire of this size called Dueler A/T Revo 2, P265/60R18 which has a much more aggressive tread for winter driving. The Michelin equivilent LTX A/T 2 is rated at all season but with a much more street looking tread.
After talking to the guy at Costco Tire Dept. he said the recall only effects a certain size, of which my size wasn't the one. He said since they don't sell that size, they have not gotten any official recall from Michelin. It's a commercial tire not a P-rated tire.
jefe - tkcas01Explorer"Rapid Air Loss"? Is that a polite way to say Blow Out? :h
Not good for Michelin. Earlier this year when I needed to put new tires on the rig, I considered Michelin but read many reports of spontaneous blow-outs - even while parked. Opted to go another direction.
