So? And the campgrounds I visit and the highways I drive have lots of half tons towing. Some should have more truck but that’s what I see. All the Tahoes and Expeditions and most Suburbans (almost never see a 3/4 these days) are half tons and they are towing.
You're looking at a skewed population. Most people don't camp, so all those folks with F150's that aren't camping or towing, aren't there to be counted in your analysis. Despite camping growing in popularity, we're still a minority. Only 9% of the US population owns an RV. And of those a smaller percentage own an RV that's towed with an F150. - 8_1_VanExplorer
- Just can't wait for the day when six of these trucks pull into the campground and all plug in on one leg/spur of electric supply. All of the campers that lose their A/C because the EV's killed the electric.....just might cause an uprising.

That is true, but having the ability to tow if want is important. The difference is with these EV's at the distance they can go between charges when towing, you are really limited verse an ICE. Some may see value in their current ability but when weighing what they can and cant do well, I am not sure there is enough justification for one yet. - LwiddisExplorer II“Actually, most 1/2 tons are used just as a mode of transportation and tow nothing in their lifespan…”

- IdaDExplorerIt'll probably be a pretty good EV for most buyers. There are lots of towing tests going on because it's new and Ford is pimping the tow capabilities, but in reality very few people are going to buy it with the intention of towing more than a utility trailer down to the home center and back. Kind of how most half tons are used, frankly.

The ICE is only 120 years old. That’s still new technology in the grand scheme of things. To introduce a new type of power will take another 100 years to perfect. Until then you can not mandate something that is only effective for 20% of the population!
I am not an advocate for EV's - mainly because they aren't really the green silver bullet the hype would have us to believe.
But I think you have it backwards, I think they are not effective for 20% of the population but a very viable product for the other 80%. Most people don't tow or haul big loads, or even go 100 miles/day.
And last I heard, no one is mandating anything. - dodge_guyExplorer IIThe ICE is only 120 years old. That’s still new technology in the grand scheme of things.
