My 2008 Starcraft 13rt doesn't have a manual lift?

Thanks for posting back with an update on your winch issue. I would imagine that most of us are interested in any and all information that we can get. So I say post away on the motor replace. But I would start a new thread with a subject that will be easy to find in a search like "replacing failed lift motor on 2008 Starcraft o something like that.

Bringing this back from the dead...

Ended up finding the bolt and using the manual crank for a few trips...until the bolt broke off. I welded it back on but it was never the same and broke off again (could be my amateur welding skills). Spoke with Starcraft regarding the manual winch mechanism and they did say that it was never meant for permanent usage...only in dire situations. In other words don't count on it and get your winch fixed.

Anyway, they don't make that winch anymore and I found the newer model that CareFree of Colorado was recommending. I installed that and everything is great. Installation was a breeze.

If anyone wants details on the winch replacement just let me know. I didn't want to post all of that here and bore everyone until I hear otherwise.

Same here...couldn't find much on it. I am going to test and replace every little circuit, breaker, and board between the switch and the motor first...I guess I can't officially say that the motor is dead until I do that.

Looks like I have highjacked it already haha... I know where Strawberry is... Used to live in Tempe back in the early 70's worked as the boss of the Space Station just north of Maricopa town... Spent all my time running the high country north of Payson in my Jeep pulling a util tent trailer... Used to drink coffee with John Wayne when he visited his bull ranch hehe...

Love those RED ROCKS up your way... Used to get out there on a regular basis until I retired in 2010 with my work efforts so got to keep visiting my favorite places... SEDONA blows me away big time... Drinking beer in old town PRESCOTT was fun times too...

We would tent camp out under the big FINGER ROCK just north of Superstition Mtns on Apache trail and hollar at the coyotes all night. They would answer back too... Now that sounds like fun huh...

Did see where others could not find a manual as well...

I found where you could purchase one... reviews didn't look all that great for it...

I am really surprised that a 2008 13RT would have a different POWERWINCH than a 2008 14RT popup. I have the 12-box on my setup so maybe the P550000 is more heavy duty for lifting???

I will have to look up the P30001 and see what the difference is.

I have never used my manual crank up - I did read about a warning if using a power drill to raise to not go beyond the limits or you will do damage.

I probably should exercise mine now to see how it works. Be better to learn things now instead after you have a failure...

Still interested in learning what your failure was all about. Almost suspect you have a 12VDC issue not a motor issue. My P55000 series motor has done great for us since 2008. There was RECALL a few years back for larger rope cable needed but I never took mine back to get it changed... I had mine a few weeks before I added the roof air conditioner and it was smooth as silk without the air conditioner on the roof. Now it make some squeaking noise due to the extra weight of the air conditioner but runs up and down great...

Starcraft also provided two roof support safety posts to insert between the raised roof and the base. You suppose to put these in the opposite corners after the roof has been raised and then drop the roof down on top of the brace supports to take the tension off the cable. I made up two more of these with stock from LOWES and now have them in all four corners... Gives you a warm fuzzy feeling to know the roof isn't going to fall down on your head when sleeping... I have about a minus 2-inch clearance now between my added foam top mattress cover and the ceiling hehe...
