"Mystery" Puddle

Well, not a puddle yet but definitely losing fluid. 2005 Ram 3500 diesel 82K miles. Fluid (does not appear to be engine oil, power steering fluid or ATF) is dripping off the backside of the crankshaft pulley onto the front sway bar and to the ground. Not much color to it but but has a greasy feel to it like it was coolant. Also found a wet area on the bottom side of the top radiator hose. Is this the water pump saying goodbye? And by the way, where the heck is it? I can identify the AC compressor, alternator, power steering pump, idler pulley and belt tensioner. Oh, the coolant reservoir level is about half what it should be. Thanks.

Ric: Based on the diagram you posted now I'm not so sure it's the water pump. I know a water pump on its way out will typically drip when the vehicle is parked, but the wet spot on the driveway is appearing to the right of the water pump location. Anything else on the front of the engine that could be a source? I did look at the thermostat housing, nothing appears wrong there. My mechanic is a 25 mile trip from me. Would it be safe to drive it to Orlando, or should it go on a hook?
