- Irish2012ExplorerThanks again. All of your comments have been helpful. Glad I posted.
- guidryExplorerThe repair would be listed on the insurance database if anyone was interested in looking. Dealer probably won't want to know if its in good shape, otherwise they may be obligated to disclose to a future buyer. I wouldn't worry about it but would also tell the truth if asked.
- coolbreeze01ExplorerI'm sure they will trade. Let us know how it goes, and good luck.
- Bob_LandryExplorerThis would be a good question for your insurance agent, since when you go to sell it he doesn't have a dog in the hunt anyway. It would be beneficial to know if anything exists for RV similar to Carfax.
- Francesca_KnowlExplorerI'd only add the caveat there's only a "choice" to disclose such info if the insurance company simply paid off for the repairs, rig remaining in your possession/name throughout.
If instead they "totaled" it and gave you some kind of cash payoff and you bought it back/repaired it yourself, you'd be smartest to disclose when you trade/sell.
In that case, it will show up in the rig's paperwork and if you don't reveal to whoever you're dealing with you could wind up in trouble. - Irish2012ExplorerIt was repaired to "like new" condition and I haven't had any problems with it at all. Thanks for the comments it was a big help.
- mark5wExplorerLearned a long time ago. Don't volunteer information but be truthful when asked.
- ggardne2ExplorerProvided that the work was professionally done and there is not a noticeable flaw in the interior or exterior of the camper I believe the fact that a body repair was made is a non-issue and I don't think I would even bring it up unless the dealer specifically asked. I've traded a number of campers in at multiple dealers and have never even had them look at the camper prior to agreeing to a trade in price. Personally, I would rather buy a camper that has had some body work done due to an accident but has been well taken care of and maintained than a camper with no body repair work that hasn't been taken care of ... a poorly maintained roof is a much bigger concern to me than a professional body repair.
- DtaylorExplorerIf , in your mind, it was fixed "as good as new" or returned to its former condition, then it is a non issue. If you tell the dealer, most likely he will give some sob story about how he cant sell it etc.... when all he wants to do is reduce your trade value. When he sells, I doubt he will mention to the buyer.
- mlts22ExplorerI mention it, and give them a copy of the papers from the repair job. Some say that I don't have to... but I do know that I can't be held accountable for misrepresenting anything. I know its a ding on the trade-in price, but better that than a lawsuit later on.
