need feedback on Jayco trailers

I don't think I can blame Jayco for a problem with an air conditioner so I don't really understand your point. We traded because of features. Not because of construction or problems. If I trade a car for a pickup it doesn't mean there is anything wrong with the car, just that I decided I need a pickup instead of a car. :S

If you have a problem with the water heater in your TT do you blame that on the TT maker or the water heater maker? The OP asked about Jayco not Coleman/Airxcel. :h

At one point they used nice thick plywood on the very top of the roof --through the years I have seen it Shrink down and now they use, looks to be about 1 quarter inch lauan board--- just saying these are the things I've noticed.


The tour used to be The upholstery shop where they would show you how they quilted the bed spreads and stuff which I know they don't use Bed Spreads anymore, and how they made their furniture-- well now they don't even make their own furniture they buy it from a different company. Just stuff I have noticed over the years.


The factory tour.....Used to take you onto the floor you would start at a bare frame and you would walk along at the back off the production line and see each individual stage ---well 2-3 weeks ago and I went there they take you up on an observation platform and she talks about all the stuff that they do and then you go to the end of the line and see one almost done and that's it??????

Meanwhile...I went to the KZ tour just down the road 2 hours later and they take you through the full thing from the bare frame all the way up to the finished product And I went to the Open Range Tours wed....They take you from the very beginning to the finish product so how come all the sudden JAYCO is not showing you the details ????
And don't say Oh,it's probably a safety thing -no-- the other plants take you through everything when there's people working

We've had our 2005 Jayco Eagle 298BHS for 10 years. Very few problems (most operator error). We searched for a long time before making the decision to buy it. Considering a 5th wheel and Jayco is at the top of our list, based on the experience we've had. However, if you read the forums and owners groups, all brands appear to have some degree of problem or quality control issues. Try to find a good dealer and do a good PDI.

Caulking is normal maintenance once or twice a year, to keep leaks from happening. You aren't going to get away from that.

I love my Jayco Jay Fight 26BH. Wouldn't consider another brand. Love the build quality, features, options, price, and customer service.

Others build quality suffers next to Jayco. I've looked a most and came away disappointed next to Jayco. I was at the Jayco plant and watched them build a trailer. I was impressed by the quality and effectiveness of the crews.

I would stay with stick and tin build quality unless delamination doesn't bother you or you don't plan on keeping the trailer long.

You might want to wait for the Yearly Grand RV show to come to your area. Here in Tampa thousands visit the 4-5 day show. I believe the Shows offer you the best opportunity to compare the Brands of RV's available in your area all at the same time and same place. Also most every Manufacture bring their Rep's to assist with your questions and very often they may be able to sweeten the deal with a little unadvertised factory cash. With competition at every corner, these Manufactures and Dealers are there to sell the products they offer that day,

Check out the Jayco owners forum. There's a section for problems/issues. Most people in that forum, as well as this one are generally happy and many have purchased multiple Jaycos, myself included.

My Jayco is a great trailer for its price.
