I have almost the same truck as the OP has. 2010 XLT 5.4L 3.55 rear. I have a 24' KZ Spree that weighs 4750 dry and max of 6000. I just got back from the scales and fully loaded I'm currently at 5700 on the trailer. It tows great but if I went heavier I would have more tongue weight and would have more concerns with the truck carrying capacity. I have a yellow door sticker that says 1643 lbs.
This goes quick, and is your real concern. .... In my case it was as follows.....
1643 minus....
Two adults = 353
Hitch= 105
Bed liner and tonneau cover = 100
Tools, BBQ, chairs, etc = 250
This leaves.......... 835lbs for trailer tongue weight and anything we missed.
Soooo try to stay at 5000 lbs to 6000 lbs max for your trailer if you can and you can hall stuff. The less it weighs the better..... and the more you could pack like bikes (remember adult bikes weigh about 30lbs each).
Let's only hope the OP pays attention to your "REAL WORLD" numbers and realizes that for his family of 5 his numbers mostly likely will be larger than yours.
