  • if you have plans to keep your Trailer, I agree with suggestion of using the replacement fabric supplied by your Awning manufacture. The fabric will come pre-made for an exact fit.
  • Replacement fabric is pretty cheap if you look around. I just got factory replacement fabric from Dyers for a little over 200.00.
Knock off fabric can be had for less.
At those prices, I just don't think its worth it to mess around trying to repair old fabric.. The upholstry shop will charge for this repair, then you still gotta mess with the uninstall/installation of used fabric, which will likely only last a little while longer.

You got 13 years of service out of it. It has served you well. Now it is time for new.

I took my fabric off and to a marine upolstry place and had the first ten inch's removed and reconstructed. A cheap fix. Yes awning is slightly shorter
I did the same repair last year on mine. I don't even miss the ten inches we took out. Good luck on yours.:)

I like this idea. Ours has some small separations near the top end (first 5 inches) that I have taped to "save" it currently. The rest of the awning fabric is reasonably good so your "technique" will likely work for a few years more. I just have to locate a similar type of company here.
  • This past fall we looked at awning fabric and found a 14' wide piece for about $150 total to get it it to my house. Similar to your link. And yes it's too bad we have to replace the whole thing when it's just the top part that sees the sun all the time that starts falling apart.

We will see how the installation goes this spring.

  • Oh the reason is the fabric deleminated at the top part. This is the part that is in the sun all the time when its rolled up.. I used gorilla tape to stop the lamination peeling. This lasted two years. Now the tape has shrunk I assume.

So now the awning will not roll up straight. I can no longer lock the arms in place because its way off when rolling up..
