Kevinwa - if you bothered to stay with this thread after the food fight started .... BC is one of the jurisdictions that an enforcement officer will consider the OEM door sticker weight ratings on a private pickup truck. OEMs sticker a group of single rear wheel 350/3500 trucks at max 10,000lbs to suit some markets where >10,000lbs requires a commercial license, or can't be parked at home, etc. etc.
If you are buying a long term truck for a future bigger camper or trailer you may need to forgo the features and benefits of a single rear wheeler.
I am still around. I kinda of ignored the "Your brand sucks more then my brand sucks" feeding frenzy. I guess I did throw the bait in the water for that, and the sharks did circle.
Are you saying that with a SRW truck in B.C., no matter the weight ratings on the door they will treat it as a 10,000 lbs GVW max? I didn't know that, I did know that they regularly will weigh campers on the sides of the highway. Last time I was in BC with a camper was with my dads 07 GMC 3500 crew cab DRW duramax and a little 18' Mallard camper, no issues with being overweight with that combo, but way overkill. The Lady at the GM dealer did say that they heard the enforcement of recreational and personal use weight limits was coming to Alberta. Hmmmmm
No, the maximum GVW on the door sticker is what they go by; just be sure that you are insured for the weight of the loaded truck because they look at that as well.
We have not been pulled over yet but I know of 2 people who have.
