Ford has sold in the U.K. a Transit Courier as part of the Transit line for a few years. Nice little vehicle, not a pickup but could be easily converted to that body style. Think updated Pinto cruising wagon with the back gutted out for cargo. Very small in town delivery vehicle, FWD, has a flip down passenger seat with a flip over cargo cage to retain longer items with better driver safety.

Because they start @ $30,000.00 for the bottom of the line 2WD RT. Get one loaded up and your over $40K easy. Thats a nice chink of change for about 40% of a truck. Better off to get the Pilot or CRV.

Fans of the Ridgeline love them though. The weight Police on this board need to go over to the Ridgeline Forums and look up a thread titled "My Ridgeline Can Tow". They had better take their nerve and heart meds first though, because when they see some of the stuff people tow with those things then brag about how heavy and over the specs they were, the ticker might splode.

My insurance agent is a repeat customer of the Honda Ridgeline and loves it, not so much the Honda dealer who constantly tries to up sale him on unnecessary maintenance.

I think your right about price being the prime factor. I could see teenagers as a first vehicle, parts delivery and other uses if the price was cheap enough.

Part of the problem is 1/2 tons are getting so good in terms of power and fuel efficiency, that some are willing to trade a 15% worse economy for 100% increase in towing capacity.

The other part is people insisting trucks looking like "trucks". In Euro / Asia, people are more about economy and practicality over looks.

I like the talk about the 2.2 diesel, it could be a fun to drive, economical vehicle. But it doesn't look very practical, and Hyundai even mentioning the Subaru Baja in the same sentence doesn't exactly inspire confidence, since that vehicle was a total flop.

Kind of reminds me of a pickup version of an Isuzu VehiCROSS.
