New Ford Expedition V-6

Anyone bought one of the new Ford Expeditions with the V-6?
Tow ratings are great but can a 6 really pull a TT GVW of
8,000lbs? Even with all the technology turbo boosting and eco enhancing it seems like it wouldn't get off the ground or handle those hills in Branson. Before spending $70,000 I sure would
like to hear from someone who has had experience with this new V6 engine in the 2016 Expedition. Ford is coming out with a new
diesel which is supposed to revolutionize the industry. I hope
so its about time for something which can tow a lot and get respectable mpg. Noticed in many places diesel is the same
price as regular gas.

  • It's easily the strongest motor available in an SUV. The GM 6.2L comes very close but still doesn't match the low-end torque of the Ford 3.5L.
  • The engine/trans has been used since 2011 F-150 with tow ratings up to 12k-ish pounds. Real world owners love the power and performance.

Despite 8500-9000 pounds tow ratings in the Expedition, you'll hit payload/GVWR or receiver limits at a much lower weight TT, under 7k I bet. So estimate your family's weight while towing, subtract from available payload, and the rest is for loaded TW.

Neighbor has one. I have heard only good comments from owners of Ecoboost Expeditions and Navigators.

Q1. Yes in some cases if they had some payload capacity.
Q2.Turbo power handles hills very well
Q3.$70K? What parallel universe are you in?
Q4. Ford Eco-boost motors have been around a while, just new to the Explorer
Q5. Car company claims should always be considered advertising
