OK...I can dig that. Just never heard of a Dakota referred to as a muscle truck. I was thinking at least a diesel to be called a muscle truck.

My 97 Dodge conv. van had the 5.9L and 3.90 gear. it too was a power house and would walk all over an R/T Dakota, granted I did a few bolt on`s like a home made cold air intake with a K&N filter and custom exhaust! the LA engines 3.9, 5.2 and 5.9L engines were unbelievable motors that would run circles around other motors in the same size trucks. they changed the PCM calibrations around 98-99 and it made the engines feel softer and less powerful than they actually were!

Have fun with it! lot`s of available bolt ons for this truck!

Gosh, its is 19 model years old. Almost ready for an antique vehicle license plate!

Our son has had one since new. I still like to drive it and he still has no intentions of letting it go. Nice find!

You could get any Dak with a 360 in, IIRC, 2000, but yes, the one sold as a muscle truck from 1999 was the R/T. Unfortunately, by 1999, the Dakota had packed on most of 700lbs of pork and lost its free-flow exhaust manifolds. end result: a 1996 5.2 is quicker than a 1999 R/T.

I was actually surprised when I went for some supplies with a construction worker building our house. It was a serious power house for a little pick-up body.
Can't wait for the 1500's to be diesel equipped.
The new GM twins ( Colorado and forget the other one) are do out this coming year I believe which should sell very well.
