New TC loading- rails in truck bed issue
I recently purchased a new TC and will be loading it onto the truck next week. Here is the rub. I also tow and utilize the truck for my 5th wheel rig. I've got a bit of a chore removing the fifth wheel hitch to make room for the new TC, and I plan to alternate use of the truck between the 5ver and the TC.
The concern is that I really need to leave the 2 bottom hitch cross rails-to- frame mounts for the fifth wheel hitch that are attached to the floor and frame of the truck bed. They rise up about 1.3 inches and sit parallel to the axle spaced about 2 feet apart in the truck bed. I was advised that the way to work around this so as not to remove the rails was to simply lay several 2x8's across the bed so the TC floor will lie on an even surface in the truck bed (with rails remaining).
Will that slight elevation of about 1.4 to 1.5 inches cause any problem in utilization of the TC when its traveling on the truck bed?
