Since your 265's are 70 series and your 245's were 75, your sidewall didn't change significantly.

If you wanted more tire capacity you needed to buy tires with higher capacity!Toyos and Nittos generally have the largest ratings. You can get 285/295 tires close to 4klb capacity.

Load capacity seems to correlate to sidewall height. Since your 265's are 70 series and your 245's were 75, your sidewall didn't change significantly.

What I meant is 245-75-17 and 265-70 17 have same load rating 3195 lbs
Alex I bought Dunlap Discover HTP LT 265-70-17.Discount gave me $200 for the old tires and Dunlap is sending a $50 Visa

yeah, I've noticed that the 295/70R18 Toyo's have over 4K in capacity, vs the 3600 or so for the stock 275/70R18 size.

Did you look at your rim capacity? Even if you get a higher rated tire, it will be limited to the 3195 lb rating of Ford's 17" rims.
