New to the site

Hi, I am new to this site. We just came to the dark side (we meaning my my husband, myself, and my daughter), we just purchased a 2014 Aerolite and we love it. It is a big upgrade from the Viking popup we had, I am not sure if this is where I post my questions, but here it goes, I am looking for ideas on storing our clothes. Our TT does not have actual drawers, we just have narrow cabinets. I was looking for some ideas on storing the small things, I have no problem hanging shirts, pants/shorts etc, but I don't want to hand the small stuff does anyone have any creative ways. Of sorting these items? The space I have for these items are tall (about 4ft tall) and narrow (about 1 ft wide), so the space is awkward, thanks in advance!

The eBags "packing cubes" work wonders.

  • Thanks everyone for the replies, I bought the shoe pockets and they seem to work well. @ Marauderer my TT is a 2014 Areolite 250kbh. Being that I am new to this forum, I'm hoping that I am posting correctly. I will try to put my TV and trailer description on my profile, hopefully I will be able to do so. I'm looking forward to using my TT a lot this summer, the perks of being a teacher :)
  • Welcome! Ditto on the hanging shoe bags. You may also have enough width for the hanging sweater bags....Walmart organizer section. I'm a huge fan of using organizers for everything possible. In our HTT we took 1/2 of the double wardrobe and turned it into a pantry with the vinyl coated wire stacking baskets. Heavy stuff on the bottom baskets, light stuff up top. You can secure it to the wall with sticky-back Velcro and I stored the bed pillows around it when we were on the road. With the change to our TT, back to the organizer section and I got just small black baskets to keep similar items together. One holds all the coffee supplies, one for the spices, etc. They were about $1 each. We kept the amount of clothes, etc to a minimum by using plastic laundry baskets and if it fit in the basket it could go, otherwise..... We had a shelf in the HTT wardrobe and those baskets fit perfectly. The only hanging things we had were jackets. We now have wardrobes and take things on hangers, but there is just so much space, so when you're out of space in the wardrobe, that's it. We'd rather do laundry a couple times on a longer trip than to have to crawl over piles of clothes. Either a laundry basket or one of those collapsible net laundry bins can go in the shower. Enjoy your new Aerolite and happy camping!
  • Welcome! You can gain additional storage by attaching shoe pockets(widthwise) to the side of your bed frame if you have one with an "open edge." Works well for shoes or anything else. We use our shower for various items such as drink storage, laundry, etc. Usually use campground showers.
Great, cheap organizers of all sizes can be found at dollar stores.
Plastic drawer stacks are great if you have a space to accomodate.
  • First Welcome Maria!! The world of RVing is a very innovative world as you are finding out. You can adapt some of these great ideas that other members have mentioned or you can install shelves in one or more of the cabinets. The sky is the limit along with your imagination of what works for you.

I went to Google to see your Aerolite and see there are several models. Which one is yours. Also you might fill in your sig line with your travel vehicle (TV)and your travel Trailer (TT) make and model.
  • I used hanging shoe pockets to create a small set of "shelves" inside the hanging wardrobes in our TT. Three-sided ones (closed on the back side) work best.
  • Hi,

At one point, I had a 1' wide stack of plastic drawers, that where about 3 drawers tall. However most of the cabinet was taken up with the drawers, not much storage inside them. So I started stacking all the clothes in the bottom of my closet. It works fairly well. Or you might want to use duffel bags for the personal items, just pull out the daily needs and put it back.

It is always best to have a full set of dishes, utensils, and all the other things needed for camping in the RV. I keep in cinnamon, pepper, salt, baking soda, vanilla, and other things I might use for cooking.
