Have him trade it in for a boat with a canopy.
I would Try to keep things as simple as possible.
If i was thinking of changing an awning . A non powered manual awning would be my choice .
No motors to deal with , they are inexpensive and under powered motors that fail.
Also, i never leave an awning extended when im away from my trailer. High winds from an unexpected storm can rip the siding off an RV .
