You said you was going to put 500 - 600 lbs of camping stuff in your truck. If you remove 300 lbs of that stuff and put it in the TT, you now have 300 additional lbs you can use for tongue weight. While at the same time, that 300 lbs in the trailer only increases the tongue weight by 12 - 13 percent (40 lbs approx) a net gain of 260 lbs (depending on where in the trailer you put the 300 lbs).
