This example has a cargo capacity of 2051 pounds.

Look at the yellow sticker on your drivers door. These are specific ratings for your truck. There will be a number that shows you the max cargo capacity of your truck. This number is how much cargo your truck can handle. This number includes a tank of gas (26 gallons) and the driver weight. Any other weight you add will have to be deducted from this weight. So that is weight in the bed of the truck, other passengers and the hitch weight of the trailer and the weight of any WDH you will add. There will also be weights for front and rear axle. You will find you will run out of cargo weight way before you run out of trailer weight on some of the 1/2 tons. You can figure the hitch of the trailer will be any where from 13 - 15% of the GVWR

Don't pay any attention to those gross weight ratings, right now. What is going to be the definitive number is the one off that yellow door frame sticker, "Total weight of cargo and passengers....", this is your payload weight rating. I'm guessing the Tundra you're looking at has a payload rating of about 1500 lbs..Assuming a fully loaded for camping trailer like the Winnebago would be about 8000 lbs. That will translate to a hitch weight of 1040 lbs. Add the weight of a weight distributing hitch and you will have 1120 lbs. to be subtracted from your payload rating. Assuming the 1500lbs available payload, you're left with 380 lbs. Does the driver, all the passengers, and everything you plan to load in the truck fall below 380 lbs?

Your GVWR’s just matche the GCWR, which is good. What’s not good is you don’t want to pull the max the TV is “designed” for, the performance will suck and I think it’s very likely after one good trip either the TV or the TT will be replaced with something more suitable or it will be relegated to short, easy trips. Remember, you have to stop that sucker, also. Then, too, your 900# hitch weight sounds like a dry weight. TT hitch weights generally run 10-15% of the gross loaded TT weight and 10% would be very unusual, 13% is much more likely. Which translates to over 1100# for an 8800# TT.

If you only travel the flats, like FL or the mid-west you can pull more weight than if you want to cross any mountains. There you’ll lose about 3% of your power for every 1000’ of elevation which will be especially hard on a maxed out TV. Also, those weight ratings are arrived at by pulling just weight, not TT’s, which is like pulling a billboard through the air and a harder pull for the same weight. I just think your proposed TT is too big for the TV you’re considering. One option that might work for you is one of the HD F150 EB’s, but I have no experience with them. Questions about what one can pull with a given TV are pretty common and If you have the time and energy to read countless posts, you could do a search and find more information than you probably want. Too much trailer for that truck. You're not alone, there have been three posts this last couple of weeks with the same mismatch.
On the driver's side door frame of the truck is a label that says "total cargo and passengers not to exceed _____." That is the most important number in your situation.

Well, couldn't post a pic but here is the weight info from the sticker for the Tundra we looked at tonight:

GVWR 7200 lbs
GAWR FRT 4000 lbs. RR 4150 lbs.

The Tundra does come with a tow package.

For the TT we're looking at a 2012 Winnebago ONE 30RE. I found this on these spec on the web here

Dry Weight (lbs/kg) 6800 / 3084.5
GVWR (lbs/kgs) 8800 / 3991.7
Hitch Weight (lbs/kgs) 900 / 408.2

F150 is a few inches longer which is the difference between fitting and not fitting in our garage. Of course this is going by tape measurement and talking to a neighbor only. We havent' tried to pull either vehicle in to our garage so it is possible I'm wrong on both F150 and Tundra fitting!

The Crew Max like I have should fit in a standard garage since it has the 5.5 bed. I don't know of anything shorter unless you went with a single cab with 6.5 bed.

But proceed with caution; is that 7,000 lbs the dry weight or the gross weight? If dry, you could be 9,000 lbs fully loaded which is too much. A lot of Tundra owners are towing 8,000 lbs.

Just a couple of comments. Offhand, I think a 7000# dry TT is a bit much for a ½ ton; I doubt you’ll enjoy towing it, especially if you plan on climbing any grades. Especially with a ½ ton TV, forget the so called tow rating, you’ll run out of payload before you get near it. And don’t listen to what any salesman says about what you can tow, their job is to sell, not look out for your interests. I really suspect if you want that big and heavy a TT you need to look at ¾ ton with a bigger engine than a 5. But if you can come back on with the specs for the TV and TT – dry weights are useless – you can get some good input that may help you out. Good luck.

It will state that passengers and cargo should not exceed "xxx" lbs.

As mentioned, all passengers and cargo subtracts from the payload of the truck which means your loaded trailers (not "dry" or brochure weight) tongue weight (tw) needs to fall in this left over amount without exceeding the rear axle rating.

Also talk to your husband about any accessories you may add to the truck: Truck cap, or tonneau cover, bed liner (Ford), step bars, mud flaps, etc All these items subtract from the payload amount as well.
