Ok, I think we're set on the Truck thing...
I'll be getting a Cab-Chassis RAM 3500 Diesel Dually long bed with Hillsboro 9' alum flatbed. from Dave Smith's in Idaho.
Camper will be the Arctic fox 990.
My recommendations, beyond what you are choosing, is have a truck with 4X4, additional fuel tanks and spare tire (cab chassis a spare is an option), if you’re traveling the west, especially.
With an aluminum flatbed, be sure to acquaint yourself with the compromises this will have, or to with your stated choice.
Be sure the length of the bed will meet all your needs, which you anticipate. With a flat bed and Chassis frame you will have the option to make choices on the length.
Also, it would be better for us here and yourself, to start separate threads on the different topics you are introducing.
Also, RV.net have other forums worth checking out and asking questions there too. Truck Campers, as a rule, are not rife with Fulltimers. Many do do long extended trips, but few actually fulltime. Many of the topics will blend with other RVs. But, many too are very specific to Truck Campers, as well.

How you travel might be determined by this as well. Also, some enjoy traveling quickly and far. For me I travel a loop with my kids and grandkids always withine this annual loop. I don’t sit or go stay in an area for a month or months. That is where a Fulltimer becomes a Snowbird, not really what Truck Camping Fulltimers typically are. If this is the style you are looking for, many opt for a trailer/5th Wheel, permanently parked in the south and use their Truck Camper for vacations away. Most, including myself, after they begin, their routines/styles change as time goes on. If you are planner, for it. I like evolving.
so, now that is out of the way, any thoughts on actually living the life.. I realize it's an open thought but do you travel with a group and move from place to place or sit for a month or two. .
fpoole wrote:I have no ideas on this subject. In 2014 I stayed in one campground and it is the only National Park Campground I have stayed in since 1972. So campground life and info is not my strong suit.
What do the parks do to help, reduced monthly rates or have to move within 14 days. .
fpoole wrote:I do laundry about every 5 weeks. Most fulltimers are not “clothes” people, as they are limited by space. Also, if you are a 4 season Fulltimer you will need to be able to have these changes. Yes, routine is something important for me. Thus the reality I don’t stay in peoples driveways or in front of their homes. Just be flexible and find out what you like. If you wish to see a variety or things Truck Campers enjoy doing, go check out the Trip Reports that are posted in the “Sticky” at the top of this forum. There is some amazing and interesting things that fellow TC’rs are doing.
Aside from the "Fun stuff" of the place you are staying at, what "Routines" work best, like laundry once a week, moving every two weeks, look for happenings at different locations and leave/camp along the way? .

Just wondering.
So far I'm not seeing any real adjustments that can't be dealt with in the proper mindset.. .
fpoole wrote:To be honest, you know better than anyone what you enjoy and like doing. Many like having a structured and planned life. If you do, go with it. If not, travel and keep an eye out for those small signs at the equally smaller towns. Within there they share something just inside the undefined city limits that is worth discovering, but only if one were to slow down and seek it. Plus these small town cafés are some of the best to pull up too.
It might be a "No real answer" but just trying to get a feel for the "off-time" periods... .
