This brings up a very good point, I was thinking with a TT I was not going to be able to even look at a 1/2 ton, assuming most trailers are similar loaded, any suggestions on what the max dry weight I can look at as far as some typical 1/2 tons out there? That would open my options up greatly, and I would definitely sacrifice some of my "wants" on the TT later on to make it easy to get into a suitable vehicle sooner.
If you get a 4 door 1/2 ton equipped for towing (largest gas engine, 4sp auto with 4.10 rear end or 6sp auto with 3.73 rear end and trans cooler) and keep your loaded TT weight under 6k# you will definitely be good (GVWR 6k# or somewhere around 4,500# dry). You might be able to go even heavier but that becomes highly dependent on the actual truck you find.
