I would skip anything half ton, van/pickup/SUV. There are so many combinations of engines/axles/towing packages that make finding a used one equipped for RV towing cumbersome. And then you are still often limited to about 6k dry and towing with 4-spd trans (3 useable towing gears). Meanwhile, nearly any 3/4 ton crew cab can tow nearly any TT (say 8k dry).
An SUV will cost far more than a crew cab pickup of similar year/condition/mileage. If you want value, $10k can get you into a 2010+ GM 1-ton passenger van with 6.0L/6-spd trans. It's a fantastic combo that will tow nearly any TT up to 8k dry.
If you look at crew cab pickups, then you have to go about 5 years older which gets you 4-spd trans (blah!) and less power too.
