The one with 2.7 EcoBoost has 8,500 pound for towing and 2,250 pounds for payload. More than what I need since my TT has GVWR of 7650 pounds and about 800 pounds of tongue weight. That leaves 1,450 pounds for passengers, bicycles, etc.
IdaD makes a good point on payload vs RAWR/tire capacities that most F150 truck buyers miss.
These trucks rear axles can weigh in the 2000 -2400 lb range depending on the trucks configuration. Which leaves 1300 lbs on the 3300 RAWR truck.
Or 1800 lbs on the 3800 RAWR truck.
The remaining weight from the 2250 lb payload will have to go on the trucks front axle.
The 2250 lb payload is a GVWR payload which is to be spread over the trucks front and rear axles.
Now the old F250 rear axle may weigh 2600-2800 lbs and can carry 3000 lb + in the bed before exceeding its 6084 RAWR/tire load ratings.
I did not think about that. Thanks.
That is the bad part of the pre 2015 F150 Max/Max 8,200# GVWR and 8,800# in axle rating, only 600# difference and the 3.5 EB is a light engine so likely about 300# of unused front axle capacity so you could exceed the rear axle capacity before the GVWR.
